United Airlines is proud to partner with the Latino Pilots Association supporting LPA aviators. As an industry leader passionate about diversity and inclusion, United Airlines’ mission is to create an inclusive work environment characterized by dignity and respect that empowers every employee to serve the global marketplace and contribute to company success. United Airlines would like to make a difference in the life of an aspiring airline pilot who is pursuing his or her dream in the world of aviation. A $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to an individual who currently meets the following criteria: 

  • Must be a current member of the Latino Pilots Association 
  • Currently enrolled or accepted into an accredited collegiate aviation or aeronautical science program at 

application deadline -or- 

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time airline training program 
  • Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA 
  • FAA Instrument rating required 
  • FAA Commercial Certificate preferred 
  • FAA Multi-Engine Rating preferred 

This scholarship is intended for individuals seeking advancement in professional aviation development towards a career as a professional airline pilot. Funds will be used to advance flight training and will be paid directly to the institution or flight school. Training must be completed within one year. The recipient will be chosen on a basis of merit, career aspirations, and dedication, as well as contributions to their community and service with LPA. Items that must be included with the application: 

  • Two letters of recommendation are required, one from a faculty member or flight instructor and one from a pilot who has flown with the candidate. 
  • Academic Transcripts 
  • Copies of pilot certificates 
  • Copies of medical certificate 
  • Prepared to share logbooks if selected for interview 
  • An essay describing the following: 
  • Achievements, honors, leadership, volunteerism and aviation development to date 
  • Involvement with LPA 
  • Career aspirations and planned use for scholarship funds
